Earlier this month I headed up to Bali to road test Club Med Bali. From the loud and crowded arrivals area at the airport through to the scooter-infested roads and traffic mayhem, Bali is a crazy place which quickly has you looking forward to going through the gates of the nearest resort.

So behind the gates how does Club Med measure up? Read my report here.

20-something and exploring the USA

Michele's niece Jenna heads to the USA:
"In 2011, a friend and I decided we would travel to America together with the idea of partying, eating and pretty much having the time of our lives. Enter: Bon Voyage Cruises & Travel. I received an email from Michele with a flight special that was too good to refuse. Ideal flight path + ideal price = paid and confirmed trip for two AKL-LAX-JFK-SFO-AKL a week after receiving that initial email."

Half a week in Hong Kong

"In the space of a mere three days, a slothful , thrifty, shy, careful me was compelled to run, shop, tai chi and eat my way around a city that proved an absolute delight. Hong Kong was served up on a platter thanks to a quick bite-sized trip on an extended weekend trip. Here's how to do it..."

On board the Queen Elizabeth

Michele writes of her memorable experience sailing on the majestic Queen Elizabeth from Auckland:
"The first person I saw was Elizabeth Taylor.  She was there along with stars of yesteryear – Janet Gaynor, Robert Mitchun, Alfred Hitchcock.  Winston Churchill even had an appearance peering from the walls over the intimate cluster of leather chairs in the serenity of the cigar room... "

Earlier this year our Jill and Judy Bailey have got together to plan a fabulous exploration of Africa. Jill has travelled on safari in Africa several times and lived in Southern Africa for a while years ago. Judy has travelled to Africa previously with World Vision to see their projects.

Michele Murphy in Beijing

Watch out Peter Jacskon! We recently sent Michele on a three night dash to Beijing to check things out. Travelling with a friend, another Michelle, they managed to resist the shops – so they said – and got out and experienced the city.  Highlights were The Great Wall and The Forbidden City and the just the sheer size and rush that is Beijing.

Of course Michele is happy to talk about her trip and offer travel advice from her experience at any time.  She took the video camera and with her new-found filmmaking skills has personally shot, edited and added the soundtrack to give you a brief Beijing experience!

Tonia discovers paradise in Fiji

"It's not a holiday" protests Tonia, when teased about her recent trip to Fiji to check out around 20 of the best resorts in Fiji for weddings.  Going the extra mile to collect first-hand information for her clients, Tonia braved hair-raising speedboat transfers to outer island resorts, balanced out with three massages in one week and an unrecollectable number of cocktails!

Badminton, bicycles and beaches in Vietnam

‘Try something new everyday!’  While living in Hue, Vietnam, for 3 weeks in April this became the mantra for Tamra and her 8 year-old daughter – easy enough to do in such a vibrant city with surprises everywhere!

Tonia explores the resorts of Vanuatu

Two years on from my interrupted visit to Vanuatu I finally got back there this month.  With 20 resort inspections over 6 days in temperatures averaging 36 Degrees it was a busy time but very rewarding….. and I made it home without a broken ankle!
